Indian Harbour Beach Brevet 200km (125 miles), 2006

Starting at the Lexington Inn near Mathers Bridge in Indian Harbour Beach, we head south on Riverside Drive and A1A over Sabastian Inlet then west over the Wabasso causeway. Our first control is in Fellsmere at 44 miles. We then head back north on Babcock Rd. through Malabar and on a 2-mile bike path through Malabar Park. We then take some quiet back roads to West Melbourne, then north through Suntree and over to the beautiful Rockledge Drive (CR 515) to Cocoa. Then continue to the nothernmost and turnaround point near SR 528. Now in the home stretch, we head back south along CR 515 to 520 where we cross the Indian River eastbound then head southward on Tropical Trail Trail over Mathers Bridge to starting location at the Lexington Inn.

Melbourne-KSC, 80 miles

This is the route I use when I want a long solo ride, but don't have the time to do a century. The start/finish is Wickham and Post roads in northern Melbourne and follows a classic route northward though Suntree, Viera, Rockledge, Cocoa, Port St. John, east over Indian River via the Nasa Cswy, then southward to Tropical Trail, past Cocoa, across Mathers Bridge and west over the Indian River via the Eau Gallie Cswy, then north on Pineapple Dr and US 1 to Post Rd west to the start/finish.

Melbourne-Wabasso, 100 miles

One of my favorite 100-mile training rides, this southern loop took me a year to develop. The difficulty was finding a bike friendly way from Malabar to northern Melbourne on the return leg. The start/finish is Wickham and Post roads in Melbourne. From northern Melbourne, head south and across the Eau Gallie Cswy, then a long stretch down A1A past the Sebastian Inlet bridge and over the Wabasso Cswy, west to Fellsmere, north through Grant, Malabar, Melbourne, West Melbourne and back to the start point in northern Melbourne.
